Baptism: immersion into water when one has proclaimed faith in Jesus Christ
the outward
representation of what has already
happened in a believer’s heart
I
want to note that our salvation is not dependent on baptism. Baptism is a
symbol of a person’s acceptance of Christ. Belief is the key to being saved.
Baptism follows and accompanies one’s belief. It is a way to identify with the
death {immersion under water} and resurrection {coming out of water} of Christ; a
demonstration of His power to conquer death and wash away our sins.
Although
salvation is not secured by baptism, I believe that if a person believes in
Jesus Christ and has the opportunity, they should be baptized.
Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned.
Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned.
